Byron Community Centre Rebrands as the Beating Heart of Byron

New Look, New Tagline and New Future

The Byron Community Centre has unveiled its new brand identity, logo and tagline: ‘The Beating Heart of Byron’. The iconic not for profit organisation has undergone a complete brand refresh to reflect its current position and offering to the community.

Local design agency, Utopia Creative, has collaborated to help launch the new brand identity including new logos for the Byron Community Centre and its two social enterprises: Byron Markets and Byron Theatre.

“We’re thrilled with the new branding and public launch of our beloved tagline,” says Laura Peck, Management Committee member and marketing specialist. “We worked with Utopia to create a new look that reflects the Byron Community Centre and all it encompasses now and for its future. The uplifting imagery reflects our purpose and dedication to community values.”

The original Byron Community Centre logo depicting two people hugging has carried the organisation on a journey spanning 40 years. The Centre has expanded its community services and programs over recent years, including the reopening of Fletcher Street Cottage.

“Having worked with many iconic Byron entities over the past 30 years, the rebranding for the Byron Community Centre, Markets and Theatre held a particular importance in reflecting the community spirit that lives naturally in our beautiful shire,” says Adrian Nelson, founder of Utopia Creative.

The new heart shape reflects elements of the sea, mountains and rolling hills of the Byron Shire. The Byron Community Centre is the heart and soul of Byron, and a central meeting place for community. The vibrant colours represent the natural Byron palette, and reflect the diversity of the community and our interconnections. 

“It is important that the Byron Community Centre retains its established values and connection to community, but at the same time the branding needed developing to reflect the growth and offering of the organisation,” says Kate Love, Communications Manager.

“We feel it’s important to let our community know what the Byron Community Centre stands for and our new tagline ‘The Beating Heart of Byron’ signifies our position as Byron’s social and cultural hub.”

The new branding will be rolled out over the coming weeks, with a brand new website to follow in 2022. The improved site will provide better functionality and will offer a valuable resource to Byron Shire locals and visitors alike.

“The rebrand and launch of the new website represents our growth and reflects how the organisation has evolved in recent years in response to community needs,” adds Kate.
