Foodini Breaks Barriers for People with Dietary Needs
It's never been easier to enjoy the holiday season as ground-breaking dining app, Foodini, launches in Byron Bay.
The new app enables diners to build a profile and match menus specific to their dietary needs in seconds, giving travellers the confidence to dine out safely while on holiday.
Over 30 of Byron Bay’s major restaurants have been onboarded to the platform using Accredited Practising Dietitians who review the ingredients on menus of Australian restaurants. Finn Poke, Lolita's Cantina and Salt Beachbar and Bistro, are some of the listed restaurants.
Foodini caters to over 50+ different dietaries including all mandatory allergens - from coeliac disease, lactose-intolerance to veganism, pescatarians and more. It is the only app of its kind that utilises Accredited Practising Dietitians to ensure the information is accurate.
After successful launches in culinary capitals, Sydney and Melbourne in 2022, Foodini’s expansion into Byron Bay comes in response to research claiming Australia is the food allergy capital of the world[1] with 1 in 3 Australians having specific dietary needs.[2]
Co-founders Dylan McDonnell and Timo Kugler personally experience living with dietary needs and decided, in 2020, to create a solution that makes it easy to navigate food confidently, especially while travelling.
“Together we wanted to create a solution that makes it easy to navigate food confidently based on a person's individual dietary needs.
Food is more than just the body’s fuel source. It’s also a key part of culture, gatherings, socialising and holidaying which we believe everyone should enjoy. Travelling with dietary needs can be a pain point for some. Our app allows all people, regardless of their needs, to not only enjoy the experience of dining out, but to enjoy their holiday with comfort and confidence using reliable, transparent and credible information,” said Foodini Co-Founder Dylan McDonnell.
Co-Founder Timo Kugler agrees, “Foodini is an excellent solution for those with dietary needs seeking somewhere safe to dine out while on holidays. Once downloaded, users easily create a customised profile detailing their specific requirements and matching them to relevant restaurants, cafes and other venues in the area. Users can then see a breakdown of what they can and cannot eat on each menu.”
The Foodini App features over 3,500 restaurants in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, while currently launching in Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. It sets out to be in all major Australian cities by the end of 2023.
Locals and visitors can now download the user-friendly, free Foodini app on the Play Store or the App Store. For more information: www.getfoodini.com
