Byron Local on Australia's Longest Barefoot Run to #StopAdani

Forget about Forrest Gump. We’ve got our own bearded runner and he’s on a mission to Stop Adani.

Ben Ferris, otherwise known as Ferris Gump, is running barefoot from Lismore to Brisbane to raise awareness about clean energy.

“This is the longest barefoot marathon attempt in Australia - Lismore to Brisbane via Byron Bay, Mullum and the Gold Coast,” says Ferris.

This is no easy feat. We all love to go barefoot in Byron Bay, but not many of us would last running from Bangalow to Byron, let alone all the way to the city.

The distance from Lismore Showgrounds to Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Brunswick Heads then Brisbane via the Gold Coast is around 225kms.

Ferris is a passionate advocate for the environment, and was the first person to run solo across Australia. He’s a self-proclaimed nature lover and everything he does is for a cause.

“This run is going to be mainly focused on helping put a strong message for a sustainable future and clean energy,” says Ferris.

If you see him on the way, give him a wave. Run Ferris run!
