Byron Bay Surf Festival


The highly anticipated Byron Bay Surf Festival is making its return from August 15th to 18th, 2024. Known for celebrating surf culture, environmental sustainability and the vibrant community spirit of Byron Bay, this year’s festival promises an array of exciting events and activities.

FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

The 2024 festival embraces the theme of “rewildering,” focusing on reconnecting with nature and promoting environmental stewardship. Highlights include:

  • Surf Competitions: Showcasing local and international talent, with the Wategos Wizards events on Saturday and the Freestyle & Stoke sessions on Sunday.

  • Workshops and Talks: Featuring experts on ocean conservation, sustainable living, and surf culture.

  • Art Installations and Film Screenings: Celebrating the intersection of art and surfing at McTavish.

  • Live Music and Parties: Including the iconic Tracks Party, presented by Tracks Magazine, with headliners to be announced soon. Tickets for the Beach Hotel celebration will be available very soon!

SPECIAL GUESTS

The festival will host special guests from Australia and around the world, including renowned surfers, environmental experts, and artists. These guests will participate in various events, sharing their expertise and inspiring the community.

SURFAID WOMEN’S CUP

On Friday 16th August, the SurfAid Women’s Cup will take place for the second time, highlighting the incredible talent of female surfers and supporting SurfAid’s mission to improve health, well-being, and self-reliance in isolated regions, including those beloved by surfers in Indonesia and the Solomon Islands.

TRACKS PARTY

Tracks Magazine will bring their famous Tracks Party to the festival, known for its vibrant atmosphere and fantastic lineups. Stay tuned for announcements on the headliner and other bands.

MCTAVISH TRIM

After a long hiatus, the McTavish Trim returns, featuring nine of the best female and nine of the best male longboarders from around the world. This eclectic group will demonstrate the art of trim in all conditions. The Trim event will take place on Sunday 18th August, as part of the Freestyle & Stoke event.

COMPETITOR ENTRIES

Competitors eager to join the festival can mark their calendars: entries open on Thursday, June 27th. We encourage all interested surfers to register early and secure their spot in what promises to be an exhilarating competition.
