Byron is About to Get a Scoopful of Joy from Ben & Jerry's

To celebrate the launch of their first Byron Bay store, Ben & Jerry’s is offering pay-what-you-feel ice creams for one night only on Thursday 23 November, with all proceeds going to Surfrider Foundation.

Byron Bay is about to get a scoopful of joy as Ben & Jerry’s has announced the opening of its first Scoop Store on the NSW North Coast on Thursday 23 November. To launch their new store with a bang, Ben & Jerry’s is offering a limited pay-what-you-feel event from 2pm, with all proceeds going towards Surfrider Foundation Australia.

Located at Shop 4, 3 Lawson Street, the new store is Ben & Jerry’s 38th store in Australia and the first in the Northern Rivers region. Just a short walk from the Byron Bay Main Beach, the new store is launching just in time for the hot summer months.

To mark the opening, Ben & Jerry’s is throwing a celebration of everything they hold dear: community, environment and (of course), ice cream. A tradition for all Scoop Store openings, the limited pay-what-you-feel offer is available to all customers from 2pm until close on 23 November, and continues the brand’s commitment to giving back to the local communities it serves around the world.

Sam Mackaness, the new Ben & Jerry’s Byron Bay franchisee, said “It’s an incredibly exciting opportunity to bring Ben & Jerry’s to the Northern Rivers. Since early days of wanting to open a store in the area, I’ve had so many great conversations with residents and business owners about how we can be more than just a new business in Byron and how we can become a real part of the community. We’re planting roots here to be part of the local fabric now and into the future.”

Store manager and Byron local, Marcus Berkaya, said “In the last couple of weeks I’ve learnt so much about what Ben & Jerry’s does outside of ice cream. Their whole team really cares about having an impact on the whole Northern Rivers community, so I’m excited to join the team and be a part of building something special for the area.”

With flavours loaded with chunks and swirls to satisfy every taste bud, including the world famous Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Ben & Jerry’s has something for everyone. For those who are vegan or dairy-intolerant, no need to fret, there is plenty to choose from, with Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy range available in store.

The store opening on November 23rd coincides with Surfrider Foundation Australia and Ben & Jerry’s national film tour of the film, “Southern Blast” – which they’ve organised in response to a potentially devastating new fossil fuel operation set to be performed off Australia’s south coast, near Tasmania.

Their twelfth stop will be at Byron Theatre on November 30 – a week after the opening of the store. You can learn more about the Ben & Jerry’s x Surfrider campaign here. Australians concerned about the impact seismic activity will have on Australia’s coastline, oceans and environment can contact their local MP using Ben & Jerry’s letter writing tool here.
