Catch the Wave: Ocean Heroes Brings Surfing Joy to Byron Bay
Byron Bay’s Main Beach is set to become a haven of happiness and high-fives as Ocean Heroes, a not-for-profit organisation, rolls into town on Sunday 26th May 2024. Dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing of individuals on the autism spectrum and their families, Ocean Heroes is on a mission to share the exhilarating experience of surfing through a series of regional events.
From 10am to 2:30pm, Ocean Heroes will be offering free 45-minute surf sessions for people of all ages and abilities on the autism spectrum. Whether you're a seasoned surfer or a first-timer, Ocean Heroes provides everything you need for a fantastic day on the waves: surfboards, wetsuits, lifejackets and enthusiastic surf instructors. This is your chance to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of surfing in a supportive and fun environment.
The event will take place at the iconic Byron Bay Main Beach right next to the Surf Life Saving Club. Parents and guardians can select a convenient 45-minute time slot for their loved ones between 10am and 2:30pm. Registration is simple and can be completed online via Eventbrite.
Ocean Heroes is thrilled to bring their inspiring initiative to the Byron Bay community, celebrating the joy and freedom of surfing while fostering a sense of inclusion and empowerment among participants. It’s an unmissable opportunity to witness the pure delight on the faces of those catching their first wave and to be part of a movement that champions acceptance and adventure.
